Commission of the Clinical Speciality (CCS)
The Commission of the Clinical Specialty (CCS) of the SSAI represents the professional interests of specialists holding the FMH title in Allergology and Clinical Immunology, as well as those currently in training in this field.
In this context, the CCS carries out tasks delegated to the SSAI due to the practical activities of some of its members in the field of clinical allergology and immunology. It represents the SSAI’s practicing medical members before institutions such as the FMH, the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), the Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO), the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences, Swissmedic, and other stakeholders in the healthcare system.
A central area of responsibility of the CCS is the organization and quality assurance of postgraduate and continuing medical education. Several specialized subcommissions have been established for this purpose:
- the Subcommission on Postgraduate and Continuing Education (SPCE),
- the Subcommission on Exams (SE),
- as well as the Subcommission on Titles (ST), which reviews the qualifications of candidates for the FMH title and accompanies the decision-making process regarding the awarding of the title.
To ensure the quality of treatment in the specialty, the CCS has also established the Subcommission on Quality Management (SQM) , which implements the corresponding measures in accordance with the FMH guidelines.
The CCS also deals with questions related to tariffs and billing. The Subcommission on Tariffs (STA) represents the members of the SSAI in tariff negotiations with health insurers, the government and other institutions. It monitors the existing tariff structures, proposes adjustments and ensures that fair billing practices are implemented.
Professional and policy matters concerning the specialty or the medical profession in a broader sense are handled by the Subcommission on Professional Policy (SPP).
The CCS also closely follows developments in immunological laboratory diagnostics. Within the SSAI, the Commission on Medical Laboratory Immunology (CMLI) is responsible for this area.
