SSAI Travel Grant

SSAI TRAVEL GRANTS FOR YOUNG INVESTIGATORS

The SSAI supports young investigators in Allergology and Immunology, as well as FAMH Trainees in Immunology, to present their data at national and international conferences and develop their careers.

The following guidelines and rules apply:

 

Eligibility and Formal Criteria for Applicants

  • SSAI travel grants are available for PhD students, postdocs, or assistant doctors within 6 years of receiving a PhD, MD-PhD, or MD degree.
  • Applicants must be members of both SSAI and SYIS at the time of submission.
  • Applicants must actively participate in the meeting (poster or talk). Meetings can be on-site or online.
  • The maximum contribution per grant is CHF 700.00. Eligible expenses include travel (2nd class train tickets/economy flight fares), registration fees, and hotel accommodation.
  • Submission of a complete and well-prepared application is required.
  • Young investigators may be granted a maximum of one travel grant per calendar year.
  • Each research group/laboratory is limited to a total of two funded travel grants per year.
  • Applications must be submitted by individuals before the meeting takes place and
    before the designated submission deadlines: February 1st, June 1st,
    and October 1st.

 

Application

The application must include:

  • A cover/motivation letter outlining the purpose and importance of attending the
    conference for career development.
  • The applicant's CV, including a list of their publications.
  • The notification of abstract acceptance and the conference abstract.
  • A detailed budget of the estimated costs for participation (e.g., travel, registration fees, accommodation).

 

Please Note:

  • Applications must be submitted as a single PDF file via e-mail to office@ssai.ch
    before the meeting and within the annual submission deadlines: February 1st, June 1st, and October 1st.
  • The confirmation of the abstract's acceptance must be submitted at the time of the
    reimbursement request, along with a written statement confirming that no additional travel grant for the same conference participation was received.
     

Selection Criteria

  • The primary selection criteria are the scientific quality of the abstract and the
    significance of the conference.
  • Priority will be given to participation in EFIS conferences.
  • The total number of funded SSAI travel grants is limited.
     

Reimbursement

  • SSAI travel grantees must submit copies of the actual expenses (e.g., travel tickets, accommodation, and registration fees),a certificate of attendance, and their private bank account details to office@ssai.ch after the meeting for reimbursement.
  • Reimbursement to an institutional bank account is not possible; only private accounts are accepted.
  • Please Note: Only the actual costs up to a maximum of CHF 700.00 will be
    reimbursed. Expense claims must be supported by official receipts and must align with the budget submitted in the application.
  • The grantee must also provide a written confirmation that no additional travel grants for the claimed expenses have been received.
